#50 — The McDermott Line
At last, the 2018 McDermott Birthday Surprise has been revealed to Michael – and here’s what he had to say about it on Facebook…
So, now that we know he liked it, finally it’s time for all who participated to see what exactly it was we collectively created…
As you can see, a booklet of explanation was the first item to greet Michael, the pages of which are shown below…starting with the cover — which boasts a photo of the completed project…
The pages that follow explain the gift in greater detail, as well as the reason it was created…

Note: The button referred to above triggers a (greeting card-type) sound module, which plays a short clip of #49. And, for anyone unfamiliar with the Harry Potter series of books, these include a train platform marked 9 3/4, which has been adapted to 49 3/4 for obvious reasons pertaining to this project.
The book also included an addendum (not shown) listing the names of all participants under “Personnel of The McDermott Line.” And, to provide a few more details, here are photos of the remaining sides of the tender/”box car,” to which the lines submitted by participants were affixed…
Also added inside the “box car” was a sound module that played a short clip of “Dreams About Trains”…
Finally, a lid was created and added to finish it off…
… under which were hidden the cards and gifts of project participants (not all of which fit inside! Hence, the extras were placed into the box separately, as shown in the photo at the top of this page Rest assured, however, all were included).
And, of course, the book accompanying the project included one additional page, which revealed at last the reason for this gift…
